The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program of Greater St. Louis and Northeast Missouri ("LTCOP") announced the award winners of the 16th Annual Caregiver Awards Luncheon on December 10. Honored were the staff and volunteers of long-term care facilities who demonstrate excellence in patient-centered care. LTCOP salutes these unsung heroes who, with compassion and dedication, go above and beyond in providing care for our loved ones when we no longer can.

Sister Mary Rita Essert and Associates Cathie Braasch and Barbara Leveque, who all serve at Nazareth Living Center, were among the nominees honored. Braasch and Leveque were then among the 15 named as caregiver award winners. Essert serves as a personal assistant, Braasch is a social worker and Leveque is a charge nurse.

"Garden View Care Center, Dougherty Ferry is honored to be part of the Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Annual Caregiver's Luncheon because it gives us a great opportunity to recognize our core staff for their hard work and dedication they give daily to our residents and families. It is a great way for us to give back to our staff and show them how much they are truly appreciated," said Genelle Gutmann, Administrator of Garden View Care Center Dougherty Ferry.

The luncheon was held at the Sheraton Westport Chalet. Over 300 people attended the event including representatives from the 350 long-term care facilities in LTCOP's 21-county service area in Greater St. Louis and Northeast Missouri.
