Sister Anne Christine Looze 1927-2016

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Anne Christine Looze who passed away on June 3 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was  88 years of age.

Sister Anne Christine was born on August 16, 1927, in New Franken, Wisconsin, to parents Dr. Joseph Anthony and Ida Catherine (Hannon) Looze. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on September 15, 1944, and made her final profession on August 15, 1950.

She received her bachelor’s degree in mathmetics with a minor in physics from Fontbonne College in St. Louis in 1957, and a master’s in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana in 1963.

Sister Anne Christine began her 71 years of service as a teacher. She taught at the elementary level for the first 11 years in St. Louis at St. Leo, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Rita Grade Schools, and in Indianapolis, Indiana, and at St. Roch Grade School.

From 1958 to 1976, Sister Anne Christine taught on the high school level at McCooey High School in Hannibal, Missouri; Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Illinois; and St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

After a brief sabbatical in 1976, she cared for family in Green Bay.

In 1982, Sister Anne Christine went on to serve for 24 years in pastoral care in August, Georgia. She served as the pastoral associate at St. Joseph  Hospital from 1982 to 1997.
She then began her ministry as a hospice chaplain at St. Joseph Hospice. She served the dear neighbor with joy in this position until her retirement in December of 2005.

Since 2016 she served in the ministry of prayer and presence at Nazareth Living Center.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Nazareth Living Center on Thursday, June 9 at
10:30 a.m. Her cremains will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery.
