Sister Amy Hereford Selected for Law Committee

Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet | Amy Hereford Selected for Law CommitteeSister Amy Hereford, CSJ, attorney canonist, has been appointed to the Institutes of Consecrated and Apostolic Life Committee of the Canon Law Society of America.

“It is a great honor and privilege for me to serve on this committee,” says S. Amy. “It is an opportunity to help the society as it garners the resources to serve religious communities. This is a time of tremendous change in religious life and I am happy to have the chance to be of service to communities as they face an uncertain and changing future.

The Institutes of Consecrated and Apostolic Life Committee assists the Society in any matter concerning all laws pertaining to the Institutes of Consecrated and Apostolic Life in the Church. S. Amy will serve a three-year term—through the 2013 convention. She will work closely with Reverend Manuel Viera, OFM, chairperson, and other members of the committee including Sister Sharon L. Holland, IHM and Rev. Kevin W. Neihoff, OP.

Sister Amy provides legal, consultation and facilitation services for religious communities and other non profits. She recently received an award from the Missouri Bar Association for Pro Bono legal service to the St. Louis community. She also provides educational programs for religious leadership and finance personnel and has had several articles published. In addition, S. Amy served as part of the organization team for the 2012 Online Symposium on Consecrated Life that drew in participation from around the globe.
