Please pray for the respose of the soul of Sister Mona Marie Buergler who passed away July 1 of end stage dementia at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis. She was 99 years of age.

She was born in Wanatah, Ind. to parents Carl and Mary (Bauer) Buergler. She entered the Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet on September 15, 1938 and made her final profession on August 15, 1944. She received her bachelor's degree in economics from Loyola University-Chicago in 1951 and her master's in business education from Catholic University of America in 1957.

Sister Mona began working as a business office clerk at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. in 1941. She then spent the next 29 years of her life teaching at St. Viator Grade School in Chicago, Redemptorist High School in Kansas City, Mo.; St. Paul High School in Negaunee, Mich.; and Fontbonne College in St. Louis.

After a long career in teaching, S. Mona became treasurer for the St. Joseph Provincial House in St. Louis in 1972. Then, from 1977-1994, she went on to hold several administrative positions in the St. Louis area: Fontbonne College, House of Prayer (Ferguson, Mo.), St. Anthony Convent, Frontenac Community and St. Joseph Provincial House (Development Office). In 1994, she went on to serve as a transcriptionist for the CSJ Federation History Project.

Sister Mona retired and served as a volunteer in 2002 at the St. Joseph's Academy Convent and then moved to Nazareth Living Center in 2004. She remained there until her death.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 6 at Nazareth Living Center Chapel in St. Louis. She is buried at Resurrection Cemetery.
