Fontbonne Honors Sisters Regan & Schmitz

Fontbonne University has selected alumna Sisters Kathleen Regan and Rita Marie Schmitz as two of the 2010 recipients of the university’s Founders Awards, which recognizes alumni and other members of the St. Louis community for their values-oriented service to society.

Regan ('64) is being honored for her leadership of St. Matthew’s Mission Parish in rural Ripley, Mississippi. As pastoral coordinator she has helped the Hispanic people of the community grow a vibrant faith community while facing challenges of economic and immigration issues.

As a Fontbonne faculty member since 1968, Schmitz ('66) is being honored for her influence on the hundreds of students who have entered the field of education and special education as well as her contribution to the entire university community through her participation in school committees, governance and other activities.

The awards will be presented at Fontbonne’s annual Founders Dinner on October 14 at the Sheldon Concert Hall Ballroom. For more information, click here.
