New Associates Ken and Jessica (and baby Levi) Mayo, Kristen Franke, Patti Kelly and Cathy Hudspeth.

During the Thanksgiving Prayer and Celebration Service on Nov. 20, five associate candidates were warmly welcomed into the community as they made their initial commitment as CSJ Associates.

Associates are women and men, married and single, who are called by God to commit to extending the mission and sharing the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet without becoming vowed members.

At the Mass and ceremony, as witnessed by their sister sponsors, Ken, Jessica, Kristen, Patti and Cathy reaffirmed their commitment, signed the associate book, received the associate pin and were presented a copy of the CSJ Constitution.

Read their commitment statements...

I, Ken Mayo, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their associates because, as a disciple of Christ, I feel called to grow in holiness and to live out daily the Gospel commandments of love of God and love of neighbor. I believe these commandments are central to the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph and associates and they will help me live it out.

I hope to live out this commitment by encouraging right relationships with God through prayer, with self, with others, with the dear neighbor and with all of creation.

I, Jessica Mayo, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their associates because I want to enter this community of humble service, loving community and its spirituality of unity.

I hope to live out this commitment by both embracing the rich tradition and looking for new ways to live out the charism; challenging myself to deeper practices of prayer, service and community; and sharing this joy thorugh a quiet inner glow.

I, Kristen Franke, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their associates because I wish to center my life on the CSJ charism to spread loving unity throughout the world.

I hope to live out this commitment by listening to the stories of the dear neighbor, spreading enthusiasm for the charism of unifying love, and use my art to create beauty and understanding in a divided world.

I, Patti Kelly, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their associates because of the charism and love of the dear neighbor. This speaks to me in many ways. This is my way of giving back, doing good works and trying to be a better person.

I hope to live out this commitment by trying new things and by reaching out to others to grow closer to God and become more spiritually enriched. I feel that my willingness and enthusiasm for the sisters and the associates will help me also as I change and become a work in progress.

I, Cathy Hudspeth, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their associates because i wish to answer an ever-deepening call to live my life based on the charism of loving unity and reconciliation with the support of, and in communty with, CSJs.

I hope to live out this commitment by having open eyes, listening ears, and an alert and loving spirit ready to serve, without distinction, the dear neighbor and the world as i find it.
