Summer Concert Series Celebrates 25 Years

This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the Carondelet Community Betterment Federation’s (CCBF) free “Concerts in the Park."

Since 1988 the program that began in Carondelet Park has grown to bring St. Louis’ favorite musical acts to thousands of visitors to numerous South St. Louis parks, including Fanetti, St. Louis Square, Lyons and Bellerieve Parks.

The Sisters of St. Joseph are sponsoring the Sunday, June 23 concert at Carondelet Park featuring Fanfare.

“I think music is essential for the people and important for the neighborhood,” says Carolyn George, who has been directing the concert series for the past 15 years. It’s a very positive community activity.”

The concert series is just one of the many recreational activities available in the Carondelet neighborhood.  “We are proud of our well-kept parks, the renovated library, the new Rec Complex, expanding bike trails,” says Sister Mary Ann Nestel, CSJ, executive director of CCBF.  “It’s a wonderful, family-friendly community.”

“We have been giving the gift of music to the Carondelet neighborhood and greater St. Louis for 25 years and with the community’s support, we hope to do it for 25 more,” says Nestel.
