The Unconditional Commitment Award, sponsored by the Office of Laity and Family Life of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, honors Catholic women who have made significant contributions to the Church by answering God’s call to dedicate themselves to the care of another.

Each year the award reflects one of 12 models of the faith who represents a particular spiritual gift. The women are chosen by their parishes based on the description of this gift. This year's model was Ruth:

But Ruth said, “Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you! For wherever you go I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall by my people, and your God my God. Wherever you die I will die, and there be buried. May the Lord do so and so to me, and more besides, if even death should come between us. (Ruth 1:16-17)

Fifty-five women received the award, presented by Archbishop Robert J. Carlson and Nancy Werner, chancellor of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The celebration also included guest speaker Santa Cuddihee, 2005 Unconditional Commitment Award recipient, St. Joseph’s Academy faculty member and associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Bartman is a member of the St. Matthew the Apostle Parish; Sheridan is a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish.
