Four Associate Candidates Make Initial Commitments

On March 7, four associate candidates made their initial commitment as CSJ Associates. Associates are women and men, married and single, who are called by God to commit to extending the mission and sharing the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet without becoming vowed members.

At the Mass and ceremony Cynthia Bowling, Dave and Patty Cassens and Dorothy Dempsey, as witnessed by their sister sponsors, reaffirmed their comittment, signed the associate book, received the associate pin and were presented a copy of the CSJ Constitution.

Read their commitment statements...

I, Cynthia Bowling, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St Joseph and their associates because of the charism and the virtues we have in common and which I would like to share with all I encounter.

I will demonstrate this commitment by being an active member of my community and by continuing to grow with the Lord one day at a time, one step at a time, always at the ready for wherever the charism takes me.

I, David Cassens, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St Joseph and their Associates.  I wish to fulfill the virtues and values of the CSJ community, which in turn will strengthen my spiritual relationship with Christ and reawaken my compassion and love for all dear neighbors.

I pray that I can demonstrate this commitment and compassion to all whom I meet, and especially to my family and friends.  Christ, give me strength!

I, Patricia Cassens desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their Associates through a deeper understanding of my relationship with God.  I commit to the values of the Sisters of St. Joseph through my relationships with family, friends and others.

I will live out this commitment by being an active member of the Association and by living the charism of unity and reconciliation.

I, Dorothy Dempsey, desire to make this commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph and their Associates so that I may find time to be silent and listen to God.  I hope to become childlike in humility and obedience to God and consistent in my sharing and reaching out to others.  I seek a change and an inner peace in my life and I look forward to the challenge of constant development and growth in my becoming an associate.
