Ascension Health Celebrates 12th Anniversary

November 1 marked the 12th anniversary of the founding of Ascension Health. The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet became the sixth sponsor of Ascension Health in 2002, along with Daughters of Charity and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth, when their [CSJs] health system became a part of AH. Today, the congregation is a historical sponsor of Ascension Health as AH transitioned to a non-congregational Public Juridic Person (PJP) sole sponsorship model in September 2011. The new PJP is known as Ascension Health Ministries and is authorized to carry out a ministry or apostolate in the name of the Catholic Church.

In a letter to members associated with Ascension Health, President and CEO Anthony R. Tersigni stated,

"I want to thank you for your continued commitment to this national health ministry. I especially want to acknowledge your contributions over the past year, a year that witnessed economic challenges for our health ministries and the people we are privileged to serve. These conditions have spurred tremendous creativity and resourcefulness by our leaders, associates and physicians to meet ongoing challenges while continuing to carry out our Mission."
