Above and Beyond: Fontbonne Service Pledges
Members of the Fontbonne University community show the graphic display representing the many participants in the 175th service pledge campaign in honor of the sisters' 175th anniversary.
The call was simple: pledge 175 minutes of service in honor of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet's 175th anniversary in America.
CSJ-sponsored Fontbonne University in St. Louis answered this call in a big way. Of the more than 20,000 minutes pledged, the members of the Fontbonne community played a significant role in the total.
Students, faculty and staff, participated in a variety of projects, from serving meals to serving on boards, from mentoring children to companioning the elderly.
As a fitting symbol of this life-giving service, they created this blooming display, with each flower representing the people who gave of themselves in honor of the sisters.
"It was very exciting to watch the online pledges from Fontbonne pop up one after the other," says Jenny Beatrice, communications director. "We are thrilled this project took off with such energy across the Fontbonne campus."
Special thanks to CSJ Associate and Fontbone's Mission Integration Director Mary Beth Gallagher for her significant contributions in making the project such a success.
"Our main objective has been realized, and that is to try by our serving the dear neighbor to honor the huge efforts of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in their 175 years of service," Gallagher says. "Thanks so much for this beautiful opportunity."
