About St. Joseph Woods
Located in the heart of Ferguson, Mo., St. Joseph Woods offers a peaceful place to reflect, pray and learn about caring for the earth. The 7.2 acres of wooded land is an oasis of green space, a teaching tool and a place of rest. The center is home to gardens, goats, hiking trails, spiritual reflection areas, and a labyrinth.
St. Joseph Woods provides education about earth care and eco-justice issues, specifically organic gardening without the use of pesticides and herbicides.
Sisters Carol Brouillette and Martha Heimer, both of whom share a deep commitment to caring for the earth, oversee the center. They welcome the energy of volunteers - especially for outdoor-in-season help, and some occasional indoor assistance, ie., with computer or library.
The center offers a space quiet and apart, where individuals/groups may get in touch with the larger self of the universe which, in the words of Fr. Thomas Berry is "the primary revelation of the divine
