50th Jubilee

Sister Mary Margaret Lazio was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1963 and was received into the novitiate in 1964 as Sister Helen Charles.  She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Avila College in 1970 and a master’s degree in medical surgical nursing from The Catholic University of America in 1978.

Sister Mary Margaret began her 50 years in health care ministry as a nurse at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City in 1970.  She  went on to serve as the associate administrator in mission and values; vice president and director of nursing, and as the chief operating officer in 1993.

Sister Mary Margaret completed her 28 years of service in Kansas City as the executive director of special projects at Carondelet Health Corporation.  

In the Diocese of  Venice, Florida, Sister Mary Margaret ministered in family care and then as a registered nurse for seven years at Sarasota  Memorial Hospital.  

She has been serving her CSJ community in the St. Louis Archdiocese as a nursing supervisor at Nazareth Living Center since 2007.

Sister Mary Margaret was recently elected to the St. Louis Province Leadership Team and begins her five-year term in July.
